Myanmar’s Salt Industry Association has invited bids to supply 7,500 kg of potassium iodate (KIO₃), a key fortifiant used for iodizing table salt. The procurement is part of a national public health initiative to maintain compliance with universal salt iodization standards.
Securing high-quality KIO₃ is critical, as shortages can create a bottleneck for iodized salt production even when raw salt is plentiful. The tender process is being managed through the Yangon Region Salt Industry Office to ensure supply continuity for domestic producers.
