Vietnam has issued a 2026 import tariff-rate quota for salt of 97,020 tonnes, effective from March 15, 2026. The quota covers table salt, denatured salt, and pure sodium chloride, with priority given to pharmaceutical and chemical manufacturers.
The allocation will be managed through an administrative permit system, making timing and eligibility central to sourcing plans. This regulatory framework aims to protect strategic industrial feedstock while maintaining a balance with domestic production.
