Sri Lanka Faces Salt Shortage Amid Import Delays

Sri Lanka is grappling with a severe salt shortage, with prices soaring to Rs. 400 ($1,34) per kilogram. Delays in importing 30,000 metric tons of non-iodized salt and disruptions in local production are driving the crisis. While a shipment from India is expected soon, officials say it may take up to two weeks for the market to stabilize. In the meantime, local production efforts are being intensified to meet demand.
