Indonesia Launches Salt Industry Hub in Rote Ndao

Indonesia has begun developing the National Salt Industry Center (K-SIGN) in East Nusa Tenggara, targeting 1,300 hectares in 2025 and expanding to over 10,000 hectares by 2026. The project aims to boost domestic production and eliminate salt imports by 2027, while generating up to 50,000 jobs.

Backed by Rp2 trillion (US$122.6 million), K-SIGN will integrate modern tech, farmer partnerships, and full supply chains.
