Australia: New Pilbara Port Reaches 94% Completion

Western Australia’s Port of Cape Preston West is reported to be 94% complete and has been officially declared a multi-user port. Major heavy lifts, including the ship loader tower and key jetty elements, are finished, signaling that construction risks are easing as the port nears operational readiness.

The milestone is set to transform export logistics for major projects like Mardie Salt. Its multi-user status could reshape regional trade flows through capacity sharing and tariff competition, adding a strategic advantage to the Pilbara coast’s salt production.
