Zimbabwe Export Ban: Lithium Salt Producers Adapt

China Mineral Resources stated that its lithium salt production remains stable despite Zimbabwe’s recent suspension of raw mineral and lithium concentrate exports. The company maintains sufficient domestic inventory and is moving forward with a lithium sulfate processing line in Zimbabwe.

The restriction is framed as a measure to encourage local value addition and combat smuggling. This policy shift illustrates how trade regulations are forcing “salt” chemistry segments to adapt by moving processing operations closer to the raw material source.
