Colombia’s Congress has approved a new law to rescue and reactivate the Manaure Maritime Salinas (SAMA Ltda) in La Guajira, aiming to modernize its facilities, settle debts, and relaunch salt production under state control.
Led by Senator Martha Peralta, the initiative is designed to preserve 89 existing jobs and generate over 400 new positions, with profits channeled into social programs for indigenous Wayuu communities. The three-phase plan includes financial recovery, equipment upgrades, and export expansion under strict government oversight.
