Two years after announcing plans for Poland’s largest evaporated salt production facility in Głogów, KGHM has yet to move beyond the planning stage. The PLN 1 billion project aims to process saline post-mining water to produce high-purity salt.
However, unresolved issues—including high operational costs, inconsistent brine quality, and uncertain profitability—have stalled progress. While the plant could address environmental concerns regarding wastewater discharge into the Oder River, KGHM continues conceptual studies with no final investment decision in sight.
