Mesaieed Petrochemical Holding Company (MPHC) has restructured its joint venture Qatar Salt Products Company (QSalt) following the exit of Turkish partner Atlas Yatirim Planlama. The new ownership structure gives MPHC a 60% stake, with the remainder held by Qatari partners QIMC and Qatalum.
The restructured JV will develop a QR1bn salt production facility in Qatar’s Um Al Houl area. Targeting an annual capacity of 1 million tonnes, the plant aims to reduce Qatar’s reliance on imported salt by recovering reject water from RO desalination to produce industrial salts and demineralised water.
