The Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation (BSCIC) has proposed a new Tourism Industrial Park on Sandwip Island in Chattogram, including a dedicated 25-acre zone for salt industry development. The park will also feature 100 acres for general industrial use and 10 acres for tourism facilities. Land acquisition procedures are underway, with local authorities gathering data on available plots. The initiative forms part of Bangladesh’s Vision 2041 development plan and aims to boost GDP through industrial diversification. Once approved, the Salt Industry Park will serve as a new production hub alongside planned economic and tourism zones on the island.
