Brazil Unveils Relief for Salt Exporters Hit by U.S. Tariffs

The state of Rio Grande do Norte has introduced tax breaks and emergency credit lines to support salt exporters struggling with a 50% U.S. tariff. The surcharge threatens 4,000 jobs in a sector that represents 96% of the state’s shipments to the U.S.

The relief package includes expanded tax exemptions and doubled monthly credit limits. Additionally, diplomatic efforts are underway to seek tariff relief while the state explores public procurement to absorb excess production.
