Brazil’s Cabotage Reform to Cut Salt Freight Costs

A new federal decree regulating coastal shipping (BR do Mar) is poised to slash domestic freight costs by up to 60% for Rio Grande do Norte’s salt producers. Salt is among the key products expected to benefit from expanded sea routes.

The reform aims to reduce reliance on road transport. Infrastructure upgrades at the Port of Natal are expected to lower internal logistics costs for Brazil’s largest salt-producing state, increasing its domestic competitiveness.
