Yunnan Salt Co., Ltd. has become the first enterprise in China’s salt sector to receive a “Zero Carbon Factory” certification, marking a pivotal moment in the green transformation of traditional industries. The company’s Pu’er Salt Division earned the certification through extensive carbon reduction strategies, including switching to electrode boilers and implementing full-chain emission controls.
Annual coal use was reduced by over 30,000 tonnes and carbon emissions by 35,000 tonnes, while energy use per tonne of product dropped by 61%. With goals for 100% renewable energy by 2028 and innovations like low-carbon labeled salt, Yunnan Salt is setting a national benchmark for sustainable salt production.
