China: Sodium Chloride Prices Fall Amid Softening Export Tone

China’s sodium chloride export prices fell 2.86% in early 2026 as industrial offtake softened and inventories remained comfortable. High operating rates during the winter kept supply ample, while spot demand from the chemical sector failed to strengthen.

Downstream consumption slowed as chlor-alkali complexes reduced their operating rates. With the seasonal peak for de-icing salt coming to an end, Chinese exporters are facing increased discount pressure as international inquiries remain limited.
