Ebre Delta Salt Exports Hit by Tariffs

Spain’s Ebre Delta, renowned for high-quality sea salt, is facing economic pressure due to a 15% U.S. duty imposed on EU products. The tariff is expected to reduce sales by approximately 5%, threatening the thin margins of local producers.

Concerns are growing among European salt makers about the need for stronger trade protections. Industry leaders argue that these international trade barriers could undermine the sustainability of traditional salt-producing regions in the Mediterranean.
