Egypt: Salt Shipment Incident Reported by Suez Canal Authority

The Suez Canal Authority (SCA) reported that the general cargo vessel FENER grounded in the western waiting area north of Port Said on 13 January 2026. The vessel was en route from Türkiye to load salt when it encountered adverse weather conditions.

SCA officials confirmed that the incident occurred outside the main navigation channel and did not affect canal traffic, which continued normally in both directions. Relevant teams are monitoring the vessel in coordination with maritime safety services to ensure a safe recovery.
