Arkema Faces Job Cuts Due to Salt Supply Disruption

Arkema's management testified before the French National Assembly’s Economic Affairs Committee regarding planned layoffs at its Jarrie production plant. The company cited the abrupt halt in salt supply from Vencorex as the main reason for restructuring, stating that without salt, production at Jarrie is impossible. Arkema ruled out taking over Vencorex’s salt operations, arguing it would be financially unsustainable. Meanwhile, discussions are ongoing about a worker cooperative (SCIC) aiming to revive Vencorex’s salt business, with Arkema set to meet with project leaders soon.
