Romania: Work Begins on the Ploșcoș Salt Mine

Construction has officially started at Romania’s Ploșcoș salt mine, a strategic project led by Salt Min SRL with 100% Romanian capital. The first phase of the project, valued at approximately €4 million, focuses on site organization, infrastructure, and early equipment procurement.

This development highlights the rising role of the private sector in Romania’s mineral extraction. The new capacity is expected to diversify supply for food, chemical, and pharmaceutical industries, while strengthening Romania’s position as a regional salt exporter.
