Taepyeong Salt Farm Seeks Lift of U.S. Import Ban

South Korea’s Taepyeong Salt Field has petitioned U.S. Customs to lift a Withhold Release Order issued over forced labor allegations. The facility has since ended ties with the implicated subcontractor and implemented stricter oversight measures.

Now largely automated, the farm has hired a global consultancy for an independent audit to ensure compliance. Authorities are working to resolve the issue quickly to protect South Korean seafood exports and maintain access to the U.S. market.
